U know that, while not mandatory, it is nice to tell someone why u are ending ur relationship with them??
It’s not somehow inherently toxic or abusive to not explain to someone why you’re cutting them off, but I feel like this point has been taken to extreme, in which randomly cutting someone off isn’t just a neutral thing but a good thing that only good people do, and when someone expresses their upset at being cut off, it’s viewed as solid proof that that person was abusive and deserved to be cut off.
Fact of the matter is, people get cut off for all sorts of reasons. Someone might cut you off because you mistreated them. Someone might cut you off because they were using you and you had fulfilled your purpose. Maybe they’re bigoted. Maybe you were just annoying, maybe you were horrendously abusive. There are so many reasons. You can’t look at someone being upset at being cut off and go “well that’s proof that this one was the abuser and this other person was the victim” because it’s not that simple.
Being cut off with no explanation hurts. It is not a sign of morality or lack thereof. It’s just how humans are when we get attached. It hurts to lose people. It hurts a bit less when we know why.
It isn’t required but it can make it easier for the other person to deal with. Neither of these points contradicts the other.

Just saw someone say “I can’t wait until he does something problematic” in response to seeing a musician they don’t like
People on this website can’t even dislike something in a normal way, like even the state of having a preference for a different artist has to be “I can’t wait until I am morally justified and therefore vindicated for my distaste.”
Imagine that. “I hope this person hurts others so I can stop hearing about them.”
Tumblr poisoned your brain and you’re morally bankrupt. Go outside.
